Welcome to Gut Oberstockstall!
The Gut Oberstockstall can be found near to the town of Kirchberg am Wagram, approximately 60km to the north-west of Vienna. We produce our wine obliged to the highest wine culture and tradition and under strict biodynmaic principles. In our restaurant we serve tasty dishes of the finest quality. This commitment to quality is what we stand for.
At Gut Oberstockstall the season determines the items on the menu. The composition results from the yearly cycle and the harvest times. The young team in our Restaurant around Matthias Salomon works with great passion and presents their dishes accompanied by our own wines from Fritz Salomon.
The winery produces exclusively high-quality wines. The Salomon family began working bio-organically in 2002 and subsequently converted to a bio-dynamic cultivation system. In 2011 the loop was closed and the Weingut Oberstockstall was certified as a Demeter holding.
To really dive into the sensual experience and perfect your time in Kirchberg: Stay overnight! In our spacious bright rooms in our old lofty walls you can enjoy the tranquility and the rhythm of nature.
All our vineyards are cultivated on loess soils and are situated in the Wagram wine region. Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Chardonnay, Weißer and Blauer Burgunder, and Zweigelt are the main varieties and are all cultivated under strict bio-dynamic principles. The Salomon family chose this route because they are convinced that this represents consequent further development, as far as the family tradition is concerned, and the responsible and respectful handling of resources.
In addition to the wines, Gut Oberstockstall also offers a wide range of spirits. Another focus of the Gut Oberstockstall farm is the rearing of the “Waldviertler Blondvieh“, an old domestic cattle breed. The animals are an important part of our holistic agricultural concept and enjoy their lives at our bio-dynamic farm.
In addition to the right type, a good vintage and the handwriting of the winemaker, the location of the vineyard – the "terroir" – plays a crucial role for the quality and taste of the wine.
Approximately two thirds of the overall area is dedicated to white wine varieties which grow in the Brunnberg, Maulbeerpark, Kirchenberg and Tobel vineyards. The red wine varieties are primarily planted in the and Wagramterrasse vineyards.
